Knowing about an event and being prepared for it are different states, and the gap between them is usually logistical. You know the anniversary dinner is on Friday. You have not booked anywhere. You know a gift is expected. You have not been near a shop that sells one.
Reminda’s location-based layer works on that gap. It combines event scheduling with location awareness and AI suggestions, so a reminder can arrive with options attached rather than just a deadline.
How it works
When you save an event, whether that is a birthday, an anniversary, a meeting or any other important occasion, Reminda sends notifications based on the event date and time. Alongside that, it uses your location and the type of event to suggest relevant places nearby: restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops and other venues that fit the occasion.
For events tied to a person in your People module, the AI goes further and generates gift recommendations built from that profile’s saved preferences, favorite items and previous gift history.
Where this actually earns its place
Location awareness sounds like a convenience feature until you look at when it fires:
- A gift shop suggestion while you are already in town, rather than the evening before the party
- Restaurant options near you when an anniversary dinner still has no booking
- A coffee shop near the meeting you are heading to, when you need somewhere neutral to talk
- Somewhere to pick up flowers on a route you are already taking
- Practical prompts before travel, timed to when you can still act on them
Personalized gift ideas, grounded in real data
Generic gift suggestions are easy to produce and rarely useful, because they know nothing about the recipient. Reminda’s suggestions start from information you entered yourself: favorite things, favorite brands and colors, sizes, allergies, disliked items and the gifts already given.
That grounding is what makes the output usable. A suggestion that respects an allergy, avoids a known dislike and does not repeat last year’s present is worth reading. A list of the ten most popular gifts this month is not.
Preparation instead of panic
The purpose of the feature is straightforward: help you stay prepared for important occasions and make planning more convenient, intelligent and personal.
Most missed occasions are not failures of caring. They are failures of timing, where the reminder and the opportunity to act never overlapped. Bringing location into the reminder is how you make them overlap.
